South Dublin County Council’s update regarding storm Ophelia

South Dublin County Council received over 100 calls to its emergency out of hours phone lines from across the county yesterday, Monday 16th October, 2017, with the majority of reports concerning fallen trees.  An estimate of between 90-100 trees fell throughout the county, though that number could rise as a thorough check of parks and other areas is being carried out by council staff today.

One of the Council’s priorities during the storm yesterday was to keep main roads open and free of fallen trees and debris. Emergency crews were deployed to carry out this work especially at a number of locations along the N81, N7, N4.

Three council houses suffered roof damage, all of which will be repaired as soon as possible, whilst there is also some work needed on dislocated roof panels in one community centre.

A number of pedestrian and traffic junction lights lost power due to storm Ophelia but are all expected to be back working today/tomorrow.

Presently, it seems South Dublin County suffered no major incidents or injury.

All Council crews were deployed early this morning Tuesday 17th October, 2017 to carry out clean-ups and inspections.
