                                                                                  Tallaght to Ballyboden Cycle Route Scheme Phase 2

 

            

 

South Dublin County Council intends to commence Phase 2 of the Tallaght to Ballyboden Cycle Scheme on Monday the 2nd of July 2018. The estimated duration of the project will be 5 months. The proposed works include the following:

  • The installation of a shared cycle and footway on the west side of Scholarstown Road between the Orlagh Roundabout and Knocklyon Road junction.

  • The installation of a shared cycle and footway on the North side of Orlagh Roundabout.

  • The installation of a shared cycle and footway on the South side of Orlagh Roundabout.

  • The installation of a zebra crossing on the Orlagh Grove arm of Orlagh Roundabout.

  • The installation of a raised toucan crossings on the northern arm (Scholarstown Rd) of Orlagh Roundabout.

  • The upgrading of the existing pedestrian crossing on the east side of the Orlagh Roundabout to a raised toucan crossings.

  • The installation of a table top ramp at the junction of The Rookery and Scholarstown Road.

  • The installation of a raised pedestrian / cycle crossing on Beverley Drive at its junction with Scholarstown Road.

  • Improvements to the existing footpath on the east side of the Scholarstown Road between Knocklyon Road and The Rookery.

  • Upgrading of the carriageway and resurfacing of Scholarstown Road which will improve traffic safety.

  • Installation of overhead cables below ground and removal of utility poles.

  • Installation of new public street lighting

 

During the works, there will be temporary traffic management in place which will include a one way system on Scholarstown Road between Orlagh Roundabout and Knocklyon Junction, and will change as these works progress. The one way system will operate from Orlagh Roundabout towards Knocklyon Junction and will be in place from 2 July 2018 to 24 August 2018. Diversion of vehicular traffic will be provided via Templeroan Road. Arrangements will be made to protect pedestrians, cyclists and vehicular traffic from the works area. Local access will be maintained for the duration of the works, in order to minimise the impact on surrounding residents, businesses and schools. Please note that there will be a full time supervising Resident Engineer on site acting on the behalf of South Dublin County Council.

 

We sincerely apologise in advance for any inconveniences that might be caused due to the progression of the works. We will endeavour to minimise disruptions as much as possible. The Works will commence on Monday the 2th of July 2018 and are expected to be completed on the 20th of November 2018. A drawing of the work extents and proposed works is attached.
